Weaver #30: Ona Saumell

We’d like to introduce our next weaver, and the first of this fourth season.

This time, we’ll have the pleasure of speaking with Ona Saumell, an artist whose career allows us to discuss not only art, but also vocation, identity, entrepreneurship, ambition, success, and personal growth.

Painting is part of her family history. Her grandfather, Jacint Saumell, was a professional painter. Her father also inherited that artistic sensibility but chose a technical profession. And Ona, after beginning her academic training—even considering studying physics—ended up considering a third possibility: making art her profession without giving up on building a solid business venture around it.

She studied Business Administration and Marketing and began applying that strategic perspective to her own artistic career. Her first collection, centered on women’s power and diverse realities, ushered in a phase of exhibitions, recognition, brand collaborations, and growing visibility.

But achieving recognition and success on the outside also gave rise to a much deeper question: Who am I becoming throughout this whole process?

Based on her experience, Ona has had to reevaluate her relationship with ambition, image, expectations, recognition, and her own identity—until she was able to put painting back at the center and embark on a new personal and artistic journey.

We’ll discuss all of this with her in a very personal interview—a unique experience to find inspiration, learn, and share. We look forward to seeing you there!
